Running an exceptional 9.6-second pass, the NV Performance G87 M2 became the first of its kind in the country to break into the nines—an achievement that reflects relentless development, precise calibration and an uncompromising approach to performance.

From 10.02 to 9.6 Seconds

Only a few months earlier, the G87 M2—equipped with NV Performance’s proven S800R package—recorded an impressive 10.02-second quarter-mile pass. At the time, that result secured its position as the fastest G87 M2 in South Africa.

For most, that would have been enough. For NV Performance, it was simply the next benchmark to surpass.

The team returned to the strip with a clear objective: extract more from the platform while preserving the qualities that make the G87 M2 an exceptional road car. The result was a blistering 9.6-second quarter-mile pass and a decisive entry into nine-second territory.

What makes this achievement particularly significant is the configuration in which it was accomplished.

The record-setting G87 M2 retains:

• Factory stock turbochargers
• A stock engine
• A stock gearbox
• Its complete interior

Rather than transporting the G87 M2 to the event on a trailer, the team drove it from Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal, recorded the landmark 9.6-second pass and drove it home again.

The weekend was made even more memorable when NV Performance secured first place in the 6BR class at Dezzi Raceway—further demonstrating the capability and consistency of the S800R package.

Experience Behind the Wheel

The record-setting G87 M2 was piloted by Neval Kanjee, a driver whose achievements have firmly established his place within South African BMW motorsport.

Neval also holds the title for the fastest BMW G80 in South Africa. Behind the wheel of the NV Performance Racing Team machine, he recorded an extraordinary 8.63-second quarter-mile pass at a trap speed of 264 km/h.

That record followed earlier passes in the 8.8-second range at approximately 256 km/h, illustrating the continued development of both the platform and the team behind it.

His experience, consistency and commitment were once again instrumental in extracting the full potential of the G87 M2.
